Error Message when closing down IE7

Often, but not always, when I close down IE7 I get the following error
message.

AppName: iexplore.exe. AppVer: 76.0.6000.16414 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 OffsetT: 00018fea

I can reopen IE7 without problem after the message so it constitutes an
'anoyance' only. Anyone with an idea how to fix?

you have installed an incompatible add-on such as google toolbar, etc.
Use this cleaner: Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab -> Reset button

RE: Error Message when closing down IE7

I get a similar error message, only mine ends with Offset 00001010.
I am also being plagued with constant IE7 freezing. Task Manager tells me
that the page is not responding. I have to close IE down and start again. Do
I also have an incompatible add-on? Is re-setting likely to fix my problem,
or should I be looking for another solution?

Thanks for the advice. I had 'Googled' for the solution and found similar
advice in particular both the Google Toolbar and Sonic DLA seem to be the
focus of many with regards to this problem. As I haven't, at least from
memory, not introduced these programs and others to IE7 'add-ons' I assume
these are added automatically. What exactly is the purpose of these
'add-ons'. I assume when disabled/deleted the programs and IE7 continue to
function.

Your comments will be welcome.

Re: Error Message when closing down IE7

What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Start Without
Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

Re: Error Message when closing down IE7

Yes, thank you, you're quite right. I tried it and things immediately started
to improve. Following on from that I've been reading up on various postings
and eventually decided to take radical action to eliminate the nuisance once
and for all. I deleted the Google taskbar as I don't use most of the features
anyway, and also disabled the Sonic DLA add-on. Now my pc is performing
better than it has done for many weeks and it seems happy to multi-task for
me just like it used to!

Only one remaining annoyance to sort out, but I think that one belongs in
another discussion group that I shall have to track down. Every time I boot
up, I get an Ms Visual C++ Runtime Library error message. Any suggestions?

Re: Error Message when closing down IE7

I jotted it down the last time I booted up, and if I am reading my notes
correctly it is as follows:
program - p/files/commonfiles.Sonic/UpdateManager/sgtray.exe
Application has requested Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please
contact the application's support team for more information.

Re: Error Message when closing down IE7

I would start by looking for newer drivers for your Sonic hardware and
installing them. If there aren't any newer drivers try reinstalling what
you have.

Re: Error Message when closing down IE7

I checked out the Support on the Roxio website for my Sonic products. I could
not see any driver updates but it seems that C++ issues are not unknown
there!! What I did discover that it is likely that the Sonic Update Manager
might be constantly looking for updates and that the applications can run
just as well without it. So, again I have taken a global decision and
uninstalled the Update Manager, rebooted and the annoying error message seems
to have gone away, hopefully without creating any further problems. So, many
thanks for your help which has led me to finding the way to the solution.
Maybe someone more technical than myself would have done this before now, but
at least I seem to have got there in the end with a little help from my
'friends'.
This is a great group.
