hp pavilion dv9005us NO AUDIO problem

My dad recently took a notebook from one of his friends because the guy got a new one from hp.
The problem with the hp notebook dv9005us we got is that it works fine EXCEPT it has no sound! My dad opened it to check out the hardware and everything seemed right and I reinstalled the drivers. I ran some of the test that HP recommended for the audio problem and still NOTHING! I am determined to fix this puzzle. If we send it back to HP we will have to pay a nice amount to get it fixed plus we've been able to fix our own stuff for awhile. Has anyone heard or seen of this problem and know how to fix this.
Please no wisecrack comments.

Thank you,
bonichiqua

P.S: feel free to reference the no audio guide on hp first.
