Computer won't turn on properly/BSODs on a successful switch-on...
Just to give you a background history:
Two days ago I installed the new NVidia drivers, restarted, then played STALKER. It froze so I needed to reboot, which is where the problems began. When it restarted, typical blank screen; no writing on it. In addition, a USB keyboard did not start, if that's any help.
Through trial, error and just praying, I managed to make it turn on properly and switched it into safe mode to uninstall the new drivers. it worked fine, so no problems there.
I restarted, no issues, and went into normal mode to install a previous edition of the drivers to see if that would resolve the problem. However, Vista automatically installed the newer drivers. I did the typical thing, shrugged my shoulders, set a disk verification and repair rolling and went out.
Got back and the screen was blank, although the PC was still on. The same as when it wouldn't turn on properly, leading me to believe there was a BSOD in my absence.
I do the same procedure (pray and press buttons in random series) to turn it on and go into safe mode to uninstall drivers and disable automatic driver installation. No such luck and I get a BSOD regardless of what user account I log in as. It's the same story in normal Vista mode.
I'm on my laptop at the moment and trying to force it to work through repetition, so I'll edit if there's any new developments.
Thanks in advance, and sorry about the text block,
