Unable to Change Search Engine

I'm using IE8 with XP and when I try to change my search engine using
the following Microsoft's "Help" steps, my screen looks nothing like
what was suggested!

"To change the default search provider

Open Internet Explorer.
Click the arrow to the right of the search box.

Click Manage Search Providers.
Click the search provider you would like to set as the default, click
Set as default, and then click Close."

I have NO "arrow to the right of the search box" - all I see is the
search box followed by "Bing". I want to use Google.

Suggestions, please!

Help Not Working Correctly in Office 2003 - Please Help...

Hello. I've have Word and Excel 2003 installed on a machine running Windows
XP 64-bit Version. When I enter a term in the Help windows in either
program, I get a complete listing of Help topics from Office Online as one
would expect. However, when I click on any of the links I get one of several
failures, as follow:

1) the Help window will pop up, but it will be blank, or
2) a message telling me that "You chose to end a nonresponsive program,
Microsoft Office 2003 component. The program is not responding", or
3) a message stating "Error Starting MS Help"

I was, in one case using Word, able to get the Help window to popup normally
(i.e., not blank, but containing the requested information), but otherwise
the failures described above occur continuously.

Does anyone know how to get Help to work properly in a case like this? If
so, please let me know.

The Calendar in Windows 7 does not seem to have an alert function for
calendar events.
The Calendar in Windows vista had an alert to calendar events.

What have I missed?

show page title in unfiled notes

when i send things to onenote they go to the unfiled notes section. none of
the notes get a page title. i can can turn on the page title manually, but
how do i tell onenote to put a page title on all new notes automatically?

If you searched for it (right-click on "Computer" or your "C:" drive), you
would have found in in "Drive:\Windows\System32"
and as already said, there's a link in your Start Menu.

Go here and get TweakUI for WinXP. It has a setting that automatically
boots you into windows. Look in rt column download first TweakUI.

XP Setup can't see hard drive

Sam, if the new drive is SATA it may need drivers installed using F6 at
the beginning of the Install. The drivers could be first copied to a floppy
disk. Then inserted when Install asks for disk.

Vista proprietary in Acer?

The Vista installation or recovery disk you have is probably BIOS-locked
to a motherboard with an Acer BIOS.

If you can get a Microsoft installation disk - for any, presumably
32-bit, version of Vista - the key would work although you might need to
phone for activation.

Easy way to import OE6 files to Windows 7?

Ken,

Many thanks for your reply. I won't take delivery of the new PC until early
December. I agree "Ultimate" is irrelevant. But I understand there is no
mail client (or Internet browser (?)) in any Win 7 version; that these must
be added by the user. I just want to be sure I can find a relatively
painless way to add a mail client/newsreader (as well as a browser) to my
new PC. Trev suggested (see his reply above) D/L'ing Windows Live Mail and
importing the OE6 files to that program from my old PC.

Any further thoughts would be most welcomed.

Installation question

Hello,

I was requested to downgrade a computer at my office to XP. I used a
keyfinder to locate the product key for her office installation since the
packaging could not be found. I noticed that the product was Office Pro Plus
2007. There is no install disk for Pro Plus 2007 in the office, only for Pro
2007. I did a test run on a spare computer just to verify it would work with
her product key, and it shows invalid.

Will the product key only work when installing with Pro Plus or did I just
copy it down incorrectly?

Setup Windows 7 so X51v wireless PDA can share files?

I have two computers wired thru a Westell327W wireless router/dsl modem.
I have all the hard drives shared and life is good.
Computer 1 is XPsp3, computer 2 is windows 7 ultimate.

My Axim X51v Rom12 WinCE5.0 wireless can see and read/write files to the
XP system.
Also works when talking to a vista system.
The Axim can surf the web.
The axim can ping the win7 machine successfully.
I'm using totalcommander on the axim.
When I point the totalcommander server setting to the win7 machine, the
window
that normally shows the drives is blank.

If I run tightVNC server on the win7 machine...
I run tightVNC viewer on the axim.
if I point VNCviewer at the IP address of the win7 machine, it works
with the win7 firewall ON.

I just can't see any drives or files on the win7 machine from the pda.

I've messed with the windows7 firewall and even turned it off.
Still nothing. If I put the xp drive back into computer 2,
I can see its files on the axim.

Probably some security setting in the win7 machine, but I can't find it.

Help!!!
