continual beeping in windows I've got a XP Media Center pc on a Gigabyte motherboard. It's been running fine for a year. Recently it started beeping (from the motherboard speaker) about every 4 seconds. If I boot into safe mode there is no beeping. If I boot w/ MSCONFIG and disable startup items I have the beeping. I ran memtest and did not find any errors. Does anyone have an idea what this might be or where else to look? Thanks.

Re: continual beeping in windows That sounds like a BIOS setting to me. Check oyur BIOS to see if there is some driver issue (because it happens in normal not safe mode). Try changing the settings to optimum or default and see if the problem goes away

Re: continual beeping in windows Can you describe the beeps? It sounds like it beeps during POST. It's kind of like morse code in a way... but to be able to understand what the beeps mean, I need to know if it constant and continual or not. Does it go beep-beep or is the beep long and steady or just a continual beep? Hardware problems manifest themselves during POST, which is why I'm asking.
