| Macros Anyone familiar with writing a macro? I need help, I don't even know if what I want to do is possible. I am planning on giving my really old laptop to my great aunt who has had a stroke and lost her speech. She used to know how to type. I have found a program that will read out loud anything you have typed and then highlighted in a program like Word, Word Pad, etc. The problem being the whole process is a bit complicated for someone who has never touched a computer. I would like her to be able to open the speech program, type something in Word Pad, and press a key, and have the macro highlight what she wrote and push the proper "button" in the talking program. Is this possible? What she types would obviously be different each time, but choosing select all would cover that. It is the switching between programs that is complicated and I am also concerned that her ability with the mouse may not be that good. I don't really understand macros, but think this might be something that would help. Any help appreciated. Autumn |

| Re: Macros you could search for a programmable keyboard and program the keys for her (function keys). Gateway made one a few years back. You can start the programming, input the key strokes you want repeated then stop the programming and set to a function key. That seems like what you are looking for. You may want to look for one of these because not all programs will accept macros but the keyboard will always do the same keystrokes regardless of the program. You could even create labels for the keys so she knows what each one does instead of F1, F2 etc |

| Re: Macros I have been searching and found a free program to use. I just have to figure out how it works. I tried playing with it but had to re-adjust all the changes I had made in the computer so she could read it easier. The whole program interface would not fit on the page. Thank you for the reply. Now I just have to learn how to work the program.
