| Error installing linux redhat 7.1 I'm installing RedHat Linux 7.1, and when I select a partition to install on, when I enter the name for the root partition, I enter "/root", It keeps saying an error or something. I don't really remember that. I just want to know exactly what to do (Number the steps like 1. 2.) -Travis PS: I used PartitionMagic 8 Full |

What are you trying to install it on ? What size is the hard drive, did you do a bad block check ? |

If you have a DVD-R burner, you can download the DVD image and put it on a single disk. Fedora 4 will have the correct drivers for you PC devices that RH 7 probably lacks. Disadvantage of Fedora Core 4 could be, needs more disc space. If you have a lot of discspace (20GB +) then let go of RH 7.1, RH 7.1 can contain to many security bugs that will not be fixed anymore. | Re: Error installing linux redhat 7.1 Don't use /root just use / it should work fine, though then you need a /swap partition; if you are dual booting you can also change the Windows partition(if you have one) to like /Win98 and it will see it up in X in midnight commander mnc |
