another keyboard Q

I bought a "pc line " cordless keyboard and it works fine..EXCEPT ....you
can make the PC go to sleep with the sleep button, but pressing the "wake
up" does not wake it up...any idea`s anyone ?.

Does the cordless keyboard require the computer to be on to operate?
Somewhere the cordless keyboard connects to the computer through some sort
of receiver. That receiver is plugged into a USB port (most likely).
