| can't format xp I'm trying to format my hard drive with my recovery/ boot disk. I put the CD in the drive (I made sure the CD drive was the primary in the BIOS setup) restarted the computer but it will not go the recovery CD when prompted during startup when it says "press any key to boot from CD". Someone mentioned the BIOS settings need to be updated, as I think the BIOS is set to prevent booting from CD as that would negate the Windows security settings (you could bypass folder access restrictions if you booted into Linux). I'll try to find it, it was some complex and dangerous procedure to update the BIOS so as to be able to boot off of a CD. |
