can't format xp

I'm trying to format my hard drive with my recovery/ boot disk. I put the
CD in the drive (I made sure the CD drive was the primary in the BIOS setup)
restarted the computer but it will not go the recovery CD when prompted
during startup when it says "press any key to boot from CD".

What gives?

Thanks,
Rob H.

When it says, "Press any key to boot from CD" you need to press one of the
keys on your Keyboard to get it to boot from the CD instead of the HDD.

No, he's right, I tried that too and it didn't work. Someone mentioned the
BIOS settings need to be updated, as I think the BIOS is set to prevent
booting from CD as that would negate the Windows security settings (you
could bypass folder access restrictions if you booted into Linux). I'll
try to find it, it was some complex and dangerous procedure to update the
BIOS so as to be able to boot off of a CD.

Re: can't format xp

If the "press any key to boot from CD" prompt then it IS already looking
for boot info from the CD, but it sounds like the next step in the boot
process is failing.
