Uninst.isu

My hard drive has 2 sections, called C drive and D drive. I ran a spyware
program and it showed nothing... then decided to run it again, checking my
entire C and D drive, not just the windows/sytems/reg files. It came up
with: Uninst.isu and says it is a keylogger high threat problem. I did a
few searches on the internet to find out if I should know more before
pressing the delete button, and found this same name being referred to as a
real windows file that was necessary. I can't imagine how I'm supposed to
know the difference between a real program and a dangerous file, if they are
named the same thing, and so am afraid to delete it. Can anyone shed some
light on this file name?

Re: Uninst.isu

PS: the uninst.isu file is on the D hard drive section, and is not in any
folder, just a file by itself when you click on the D drive.

Re: Uninst.isu

I recommend renaming the file to see what effect it has (just change the
extension to .old or something). If you get an error with a program you are
unsure about the file is probably spyware. It may also reinstall the file if
it is renamed so look for that as well. Which spyware program did you use?
There are a few out there that are not in your best interest..Try spybot or
adaware if that is not what you used. Both are free and can be found by
doing a search on the internet. You are correct that the file is used for
other programs that are legit but I don't recall any of them installing that
file on the d: drive (usually in the related directory for the program)

Re: Uninst.isu

yea, I thought it being on the d drive, in no folder was weird, also. I
used the yahoo anti-spy program, and also a purchased one called XoftSpy.
