| POWER CONSUMPTION If one is going to be away from the computer for a while, would you: A) Standby, B) Hibernate or (C) just turn the computer off. Any ideas as far as how much power you save and wear and tear on the computer itself by using STANDBY and HIBERNATION versus shutting the whole system down? Thanks. |

I usually turn my computer on in the morning and then off at night. But, since, in my experience, computers are most likely to die at power up, I will leave it on overnight if I want to make sure it's running in the AM. Getting a boarding pass from Southwest Airlines over the Internet is one of those situations where, if your computer fails, you have to wait in line at the airport for a boarding pass. And that's a bummer. I've tried Standby and Hibernate and had problems with both, the problem being having to cycle the main line power switch off and on. -- Bearman If it's got tits, tires, tubes, or transistors, it's trouble. |
