java??

I belong to a web site that uses "Java chat"
I have not been able to get it working for a few weeks now.
I have windows xp, windows fire wall and panda anti virus and firewall.
Do I need a proxy setting to get by the fire wall?
If so how do I determin the firewall settings on my computer?

windows xp doesn't come with Sun's JVM JRE thingy (it may come with an
MS JVM JRE thingy, i dunno)

so, download sun's JVM JRE thingy. I googled
java download and the first link listed was the one you want
