Printer DPI Canon i350

Hi there my printer has a DPI of Up to 4800 x 1200dpi printing

is that any good? i have no idea

also i want to print of photo paper

my printer is a canon i350

'The Canon i350 Bubble Jet Printer has been specially designed to help
you enjoy your digital colour images at home. With 5 picolitre
MicroFine Droplet Technology, 4800 dpi resolution and true 6" x 4" and
5" x 7" borderless photo printing, the i350 is a genuine performer'

so i take it i can print on photo paper but i get grainy images i have
my print turned up HIGH and i have no other ideas

thanks for your help

also if you could explain why ny kodak picture paper is 4*6.5inch
instead of the 4*6 standard on the pack it says 4*6 photo* with the
astrix meaningactual paper size 4*6.5 it seems a paint
anywho thanks

Re: Printer DPI Canon i350

I don't know much about the Canon i350 but I can make a few general
observations.

You didn't indicate what photo program you are using to print. That can
sometimes make a difference in quality. Also, if the photos have been
compressed or were never very good quality, the printer can't do anything to
improve them. When you save a photo (usually as jpeg format) choose the
highest quality which will result in a larger file but better print.

A Photo that looks fine on your screen might be 0.5 megapixel or less but to
get a clear 4x6 print you need at least 2 megapixels.

Last observation: You are talking about a $50 (approx) printer. Don't
expect it to match the performance of a printer selling for 5-10 times that
much.

Re: Printer DPI Canon i350

hi yes i do understand that a cheap printer wont give as high quiality
print

although i forogt to mention my photos are at a res of 3-4mega pixels
so there should not be to much a problem there

and i use the canon software that came with the printer or ocasionally
the kodak software
