loading XP upgrade onto new harddrive???

I am building a computer and I am stuck at the final steps. I am trying to
load the OS on to the computer. All I have is a XP Home update (not the full
version). The computer says that I need the full version of XP to work.
Is there a work to load the upgrade version as the OS instead of the full
version.
Here is what I have to work with.

Soyo SY-KT600 Dragon 2.0 motherboard
Athlon 3200+ processor
Maxtor 160 hard drive
XP Home upgrade (store bought not boot)

Any help is appreciated

Thanks,

The Windows xp install program should ask you to insert a copy of the
qualifying OS (Windows 98, Windows ME, etc.) that you are upgrading
from. Do you have a Windows CD you can use?

The Windows XP upgrade CD contains a full version of Windows XP, it
requires the presense of an upgradeable OS on either the hard drive or
on a CD to be installed.
