I need to scan templates up to 12ft long into the computer. My solution; Get a mouse-pen, and just trace it! These days the 2.4ghz mouse pens have a resolution of 100/inch, a distance of 33ft and don’t need a pad, (and they are cheap). Easy!
My doubt; I need at least 1/32” accuracy. I assume that the actual reference point in the pen is not at the pen tip, meaning, If I leave the tip in one spot and wiggled the pen handle, I think the pointer on the screen will move. Then again, if the Iphone has an app to use it as a level, technology must be able to figure out the angle of the pen, know the distance of the sensor point to the tip, and can thereby calculate the true position of the tip. But do they do that?
How about the plane to move in, how is that set vs the receiver, to make sure it's flat and true to the proportion of the items I trace if there is no pad?
Who can confirm the existence of a mouse pen with above specs that has the pen point as true reference that would work for accurate tracing? I want one!
