windows XP - 2 computers

I have Windows XP Home installed on my main computer. I used the same OS
disk to load it onto my other computer - the two are networked.

The 2nd computer will not allow me to register it with Microsoft; it tells
me that registration code is invalid and it keeps counting down the number
of days left to register. I am assuming that when the time is up, I will not
be allowed to get updates for that computer for XP.

Is there a way around this? I considered buying another "seat" of XP for
that computer, but big bucks through retail ($200.00?). I bid on what was
supposed to be a legit copy on EBay, got it for a decent price ($42.00), but
was then informed by EBay that the sale was cancelled because "the
intellectual property rights owner notified eBay that the listing
potentially infringes its copyright, trademark or other rights".

I there a way to use the same OS disk for the 2nd computer? Or can I get a
legal copy on EBay with confidence? BTW, the 2nd computer had Windows 98 and
I wanted to upgrade.

Thanx
