| Help with reformating and reinstalling windows xp pro please. My computer is slower than ****, so I want to reformat and reinstall xp pro. Maybe this will speed my computer up. Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to do that? Thanks.      |

| Re: Help with reformating and reinstalling windows xp pro please. think before you begin, will you lose files/pictures/saved games/favourites/emails from loved ones etc? if so burn them on a cd, move them onto another HD, then... put in the windows CD, restart, follow intructions, tell it to not to repair your old installation, delete all partitions if you don't need them, make new partitions, then install. perform a sinister laugh when you press enter, then it doesn't hurt so much when you make a really bad mistake. | Re: Help with reformating and reinstalling windows xp pro please. Crazy but true... One of my users got a new notebook. Six months later it was dragging its tail. Found out he ran out of disk space - all 40GB of it. The recovery point option was saving large chunks of his system to the point where he ran out of disk cache space. Don't know what he was doing - loading and unloading software? Had to delete about 37GB of recovery files to get his system running in "real time" again.
