HELP! I have too many drives!

I did a bad thing. I added two more hard drives to the already packed
system. At this time I have 3 HD, 1CDRW, 1DVD, 1ZIP, and a 3.5" floppy. I
have added another PCI controller.
The machine does not recognize the floppy. Running the TS I came to the end
and got this message;

"By default, PC computers can directly recognize only four IDE or ESDI
devices.(Two devices can be added per disk controller, for a total of four
devices.)"

"Do you have more than four IDE or EDSI devises."

"Yes, I want to use more than four IDE/EDSI devises. I will research the
configuration issues or seek professional help"

Being a brave fool, can I remedy this myself with help or should I seek a
pro?

Yes, you can run more than 4 IDE devices, but it requires a bit of work.
Go to http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/id...hannels-c.html for a
good explanation of what is required.

The Promise Ultra ATA controllers discussed can be purchased for around
$50 or less. Here's the Promise web site

Re: HELP! I have too many drives!

Many Thanks. I read the info at the first link and it really befuddles the
mind. After many more readings I might be confident to attempt something.
then again maybe I'll be very smart and let a pro do it.

Thanks Again
