files details missing

When I'm in my windows explorer (file manager) I am missing something that
used to be there. It used to be that all the folders showed in the left
frame, and on the right were all the folders and files. At the top of the
right section were different column headers, like for the day, time, size of
file. I could click on any of those headers and my files would be shown
in order by their alphabetized name or their size or their date, etc. This
has always been this way, and I've had the computer for years. Now
suddenly, all I see are the folders and files in the right section. There
is no header that lets me change the column it is sorted by. I can no
longer see the dates that allowed me to classify my picture folders
correctly. Naturally, I've played with the settings in the icons that
switches from different views. When I put it on DETAILS, everything that
is in the right frame, suddenly becomes invisible and it's a blank white
screen. I put it back on list, and it's all there again. I've tried
every toolbar option and am getting no where. Does anyone have a clue
what happened to my computer? The only thing I did different was to unload
a yahoo browser and some other of their software like messenger and their
toolbar that is used in browsing the internet.

on the top of the explorer menu, click on view and then go to explorer bar
and then click on folders.
for the details, view Details.. if it doesn't work.. try restoring windows
to previous date and if that doesn't work, you're just gonna have to
reinstall windows again.

Re: files details missing

Yes, I have tried that. It's crazy enough that the dividers at the top of
the left screen are GONE, but even crazier is that when I click on VIEW
DETAILS, all files disappear and it's completely blank. I hate this. I
might have to do the reinstall like you said. I can't imagine how this
happened, I'm usually computer smart, but this one has stumped me. Thanks
for trying.

Re: files details missing

oh, something else it does is scroll from right to left to see the other
folders/files, it used to be up and down. I have no idea what gremlin did
this.
