Boot Virus on New HD

I was "attempting" to install a new HD when I copied everything over,
started the computer and got a message of a boot virus. Question is
how do you get a virus if you're not on the internet or don't have any
other disks in the drive and how is there a way to fix it? Windows XP.
Thanks.

If it's a bios setting then how do you fix it? Thanks again.

Re: Boot Virus on New HD

Enter your Virus and disable "virus Boot protection" or some such
wording. Motherboards ave the ability to detect anything writting to the
boot sector of a drive and assumes it to be a virus and prevents it.
This causes grieve when trying to load an OS since they NEED to write to
the Boot sector.
