| Default Home Page on Web Browser I recently had to completely wipe my computer (something was dragging all my applications down). Since I reinstalled everything something strange has been happening with my internet browser. I will go into properties and change the default webpage. After doing so, the first time I go to the internet it shows up correctly. Then if I do a search I just type in the address box what I want to search i.e. music reviews. Instead of immediately showing me a listing of different web pages to select from (this is from a Yahoo home page) it brings up some search engine website called http://sp.globe-finder.cc/. Then as if that isn't frustrating enough it changes my home page to that website. Has anyone come across this ?? If so how do I fix it? Any suggestions are welcome to deter my frustration :) Lastly, does anyone know why when I log off my computer it has trouble closing a file called CCAPP? Thanks so much for your help. |

You are possibly infected by spyware. Your computer is so vurneable because you are obviously using IE. I seriously advise you to use alternative browsers like Mozilla Firefox (my favourourite), Mozilla, Netscape (Mozilla and Netscape are basically the same) or Opera. There are others but thse are one the most popular on PC's. And they are lot more secure than IE. I'm telling you this because maby you don't know. Or maby you are just too ignorant. Either way it's your choice. Google tells me that CCAPP is part of Norton Antivirus. You should google yourself. I would try reinstalling NA. And what goes for Spyware which I guess you have and lots of it. You must download http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ . There are other programs similar to that and combining them should make your computer work normally. For a while. Hannes |

| Re: Default Home Page on Web Browser ok if you are uncomfortable with editing the Registry, then have someone who is do this for you, but I will walk you through it.... 1. click the "Start" button, then click "Run" 2. in the box type: regedit 3. hit OK 4. Click on Edit in the Menu, and then on FIND 5. type in this (or copy and paste it there): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main 6. On the right side of your screen you will see many things, but look for: Search Bar 7. Double click Search Bar and in the bottom box type or paste this: http://www.yahoo.com/ext/search/search.html 8. then clcik OK 9.Look for Search Page, and do the same thing, but type http://www.yahoo.com 10. Look for Start Page, and repete step 9. 11. Look for any that have "_bak" at the end, and delete them. 12. hit the F5 key to Refresh, and exit the Registry. You are done.... Well Run Norton to clean the rest up... Speaking of Norton, the CCAPP file, it is part of Norton, and sometimes it takes a bit to close, if you logoff before you shut down, it will take longer, but if you don't share your computer, you have no need to logoff before shutting down...
