| Printer Cleaning Problem I sincerely hope that folks more knowledgeable about computers than I can shed a little light on this problem... I'm still using the HP Deskjet 600C printer I've had since 1999. Lately, it's been streaking quite a bit, indicating it requires a cleaning. So, I went and purchased the HP Cleaning Kit, which contained a CD-ROM disc and 5 sheets of special cleaning paper. When I insert the disc, I've been able to follow the screens up to a point. However, when I get to the menu where I indicate the printer model I'm using and the port where it's connected (LPT1), I receive an error message telling me it cannot detect the printer and to select a different port. It's definately hooked up to LPT1. I have had no problems printing out a page. However, I cannot run this cleaner because it refuses to acknowlege the printer's existence. I've gone to the HP website and checked to see if I needed an updated driver. I'm told that what I'm using is the latest. Where am I missing the boat? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help out in this mission. |
