PLEASE HELP

I am going insane! i have 2 questions. 1. When opening files, a shortcut
is being automatically created on my desktop. pretty soon, it is full of
crap. how can i turn this off?
2. When typing a search subject in Google for example, I type in the first
letter and then a window opens offering earlier search subjects starting
with the same letter. how do I turn off this function and/or erase the
history of theses searches?

Thanks
Phil

Re: PLEASE HELP

If you have the Google toolbar, you should be able to change this in your
Options. I don't know how to solve your other problem. Have you used the
help function in your Windows using "creating shortcuts" as keywords? This
is a longshot, but maybe you have viruses or spyware, although it does not
sound like the behaviour of a virus but you never know. If you don't have
protection against those, as well as a firewall, they are the basic
necessities. Good luck.

Re: PLEASE HELP

Problem 1. All depends on the file you are opening.
2. Turn off Auto Complete. you do this by:
getting to your Control Panel.
a. Win95-2000 - Start Button, Settings, Control Panel
b. WinXP - Start Button, Control Panel
Then click on Internet Options, then click on the Content tab, and go down the window click on Auto Complete, Uncheck the box that says Web Addresses, and you will no longer have that problem of other search Items showing up.
