| Computer Lab Questions.... Hi all - don't have any idea if these are the right place to post this - but can't find any other likely victims...please excuse me if I'm in the wrong place and point me in the right direction if you can! Here's the deal: I work in a computer lab in an elementary school (about 700 students use the lab) and the amount of disgusting things on the keyboards (and mice and screen and headphones) is unbelievable (can little kids EVER keep their hands and fingers out of their noses and mouths?? - and of course tissue is never used and it's like pulling teeth to get them to wash their hands decently). The problem: There really isn't any way to clean the keyboards with the disinfectant they insist we use (a spray). You can't spray it directly on for obvious reasons and getting them really clean by wiping them down just seems somewhat ineffective. The time constraint on cleaning between classes is also a BIG problem. Has anyone ever heard of any type of disposable (and preferably recyclable) keyboard "skins"? How about anyone else who has a problem similar to this? Any ideas or tips and tricks for keeping a large amount of equipment (36 computer systems) clean on a reasonably regular basis? Just thought I'd ask cause it's driving me nuts - "EEEW" ya' know? I must wash my hands a hundred times a day and still manage to pick up every cough, sniffle, and general 'kidly' sickness regularly. Well - it's worth a try - there are so many interesting and smart people out there - you just never know! Thanks much in advance. Rgds, SuZ |

In case you've gotten back here and my other reply didn't reach you. I found the TigerDirect has at least 3 flexible, moisture-proof keyboards that start at $20.00 and go up to $30. They are just a thick piece of plastic with the keys embedded inside and are completely KID-proof. spray 'em wipe em off, roll em up in a roll. Maybe the Parents could buy 1 for each KID, then they'd keep ALL their own dirt and germs to themselves... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...ls.asp?EdpNo=3 43792&Sku=I136-1020&CatId=142 This is the 1st one I found but there were at least 2 others.
