Sound Skipping

Whenever I play games on my computer I get a skipping sort of sound
mixed in with the game sounds. It sounds kind of like a CD skipping,
the sound doesn't stop it is just interruptd for a short period of
time. It sounds harmonic, ie same time interval between skips. When I
play mp3s, videos, or wav sounds it doesn't happen. I've only
discovered it with Baldur's Gate and Diablo 2. No help from thier tech
support.

Re: Sound Skipping

Tim, what type of video card is installed on your PC? How much memory is
installed on your PC? The "sound skipping" is know issue with memory for the
video card and the amount of RAM that is installed on your PC. So if you had
a ATI Raedeon 9600 AGP card w/128MB of video memory and ONLY 128MB of RAM
install on your PC you need to upgrade your RAM. This will make the game run
smooth and not "choppy". Hope this helps.

Re: Sound Skipping

I didn't post specs because I'm pretty sure its not hardware, but
anyway
NForce MB, AMD Athlon XP 1800+, ATI Radeon 9500 64 MB, GB RAM, WD 120
GB HD, Phillips CDR Drive, 12x8x24, I'm using the onboard audio.

Re: Sound Skipping

I swapped out my CD ROM drive, I thought it may have had a bad laser,
that didn't fix the problem. Anything, anybody got anything?
