| Memory Drain I have a Compaq Presario PIII with 384 MB RAM and the usual bells & whistles (DVD, CD-RW, floppy, 14 GB hard drive) My computer seems to be draining memory. I use FreeMem Std. to allocate and monitor memory and when I go to bed, it's usually around 160MB or so (I have 384). Then, in the morning, it's @ 18 and I have to re-allocate (I allocate half of total, 192). I run the following programs in the background: firewall Anti-virus USB Monitor Still Image Monitor Explorer System Tray I also have a few programs for my dig. camera, but I usually turn these off when I'm playing computer games. I never had this problem before. The only thing that's changed recently on my computer is that the original hard drive got a bad spot on it, but 1) When I re-formatted it, I assume it's been logically isolated or eliminated and 2) I don't see how that would have anything to do with memory drain anyway. Any ideas, suggestions? Sometimes it gets so low, that it doesn't even have enough memory to run Free Mem. |

| Re: Memory Drain I'll bet that "FreeMem" is the biggest problem ...the rest is probably spyware.
