I'd like to hear from you if you have experienced a Windows
failure-to-load problem. I'm writing an article on the topic for The
New York Times and perhaps your experience might make interesting
reading and help others.


The article discusses two major issues with Windows:
1. What users do/did when their PC fails to boot as a result of
corrupted or deleted system files, virus damage, defective drivers,
etc. and
2. Users who have forgotten or lost their log-on/sign-on password, and
how they overcame that problem.

It will discuss some utilities and include advice from techs from
Microsoft, Symantec and V-Com. The main focus will be on XP and 2000.
I'll also include ME and 98 since they are still popular.

So, with this in mind: have you experienced either or both of the
foregoing problems? How did it happen? What may have caused it? How
inconvenienced were you? How did you resolve it?
