Help required copying hard drive!

Hi , this one is not as straight forward as it sounds, I have a Sony HAR
LH500 harddrive audio recorder, it contains a standerd dvd rom for the cd
and from what I can make out, a seagate 80 gb hard drive.
It has taken me months to load the drive with 900 albums of music and I am a
bit concerned that if the drive packs up, then I will loose the lot.

I placed the drive into a standerd PC but it was not seen in (my computer)
but it was seen when booting up.
I looked at the drive using FDisk and that came up with no partitions
defined.

I have looked in the service manual but it gives no info regarding the
details of this drive.

I would like to be able to copy the drive directly bit for bit sector by
sector and track by track would this be possible
and if so what will I need to do this.
I have a spare 80 gb drive that can be used . (also a Seagate)
regards Silversounds

It might be in a format that your computer doesn't understand. What OS
do you have on your PC?

If you have linux then
dd if=/dev/hdx | gzip > /mnt/seagate/mp3_player_backup.img.gz
where hdx is your Mp3 player harddisk and /mnt/seagate is the mount
point for your spare harddisk.

What are Software Patents for?
To protect the small enterprise from bigger companies.

What do Software Patents do?
In its current form, they protect only companies with
big legal departments as they:
a.) Patent everything no matter how general
b.) Sue everybody. Even if the patent can be argued
invalid, small companies can ill-afford the
typical $500k cost of a law-suit (not to mention
years of harassment).

Don't let them take away your right to program
whatever you like. Make a stand on Software Patents
before its too late.
