| New Gigabyte Mobo ? I just purchased a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 mobo and it seems to be DOA. Before I send it back I have a question. There is a 4 pin connector that is on the board and supplies 12 volts to the CPU. I keep seeing references made that only newer power supplys have a connector for this plug but with my mobo I got a power cord that hooks up to an eide power connector. I used a spare eide power connector for my connection. Is this proper or is my power supply outdated? It's only a 300 watt no name but has been very stable in my old system when checked with SiSoft Sandra. I'm not going to overclock and only using 1 hard drive and 2 Cd drives. I plan to upgrade the power supply in the near future though. My problem is that it won't post and I have no video. The CPU fan spins up but I get a beep error. One long beep, pause, long beep, pause, etc. I tested the new Crucial DDR 2700 Ram in another system and it is fine. I tried a pci video card instead of the new MSI FX5200 agp video card that I also purchased and still no video and still get the beep error. I did notice a spark from the metal case surrounding the onboard Lan plug to the trim plate surrounding the I/O connectors when I started the system. Also have a new AMD 2.5 Barton and have no way of testing if it is good. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Taz |
