XP help

I have a Dell 2300 that runs windows XP, it started shutting down on startup. It sometimes gets all the way to the screen where you select safe mode, but when I select safe mode it shuts down. I tried using the system CD to stat up, but when I select this driver it shuts down. A few times it would let me select safe mode, but it goes to a DOS prompt that says something about drives and then it shuts down. I would appreciate any pointers.

Thank you

Try posting the actual message and perhaps you'll get some answers.

Re: XP help

If you can get on another computer, download a fix for the blaster worm and put it on a floppy or CD. Then go back to this computer, and disconnect your cable or DSL. Then run the fix. This is one symptom of the Blaster worm, but if it still has this behavior when disconnected from the net, then its something else.

Re: XP help

Hello,

You may need to try to reformat your hard drive. Do you know how to do this??
