| Re: Can't use spell check. Marvin's correct, you need something like MS Word, MS Works or word processer program with spell check for OE to use. Try a Google search for free word processers (www.google.com). | Re: Can't use spell check. My apologies, wasn't thinking very straight due to medication. The following is from OE help file: To check the spelling in messages Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling command is not available. In the New Message window, click Spelling on the toolbar, or on the Tools menu, click Spelling. Note To customize the way your spelling checker works, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then select the Spelling tab. MS Works won't work. Again, my sincere apologies. I'm doing a Google search now to find a free program that will work with OE. -- Be seeing you, Louie Gainesville, FL, USA louiethelizard@flies.hotmail.com eat the flies to email "Persival" <noemail@nomail.com> wrote in message news:owMGb.650016$HS4.4667651@attbi_s01... > > "marvin" <tim@{yourtits}timco-media.co.uk> wrote in message > news:NRnGb.5624$3N4.48278634@news-text.cableinet.net... > > > > "Persival" <noemail@nomail.com> wrote in message > news:e_NFb.626926$Tr4.1624432@attbi_s03... > > > I've got a new computer and it has XP home I'm used to ME so I'm not 100 > % > > > on all the "tricks" of the new OS.Ok my outlook express spell check is > > > greyed out and can't seem to get it to work, whats up? > > > Thanks for any help. > > > > > Usually means no office prog is loaded AFAIR OE needs an office prog to > function. > > > > I have Microsoft works. It wasn't on the hard drive ,they sent a disk that I > used to load the software on to my comp.I can get the spell check to work on > Word ,but not on OE.Do I need to tell OE where to find Works? > > |

| Re: Can't use spell check. http://www.megspace.com/computers/tinyspell/ (Freeware) http://ps.yaroslavl.ru/overview.shtml (Freeware) http://ps.yaroslavl.ru/overview.shtml (Freeware, popups on page, claims to integrate with OE) These are just a few I found. Be advised, I haven't used any, YMMV. HTH -- Be seeing you, Louie Gainesville, FL, USA louiethelizard@flies.hotmail.com eat the flies to email |

| Re: Can't use spell check. This one claims to work with all MS programs: http://hcidesign.com/freespell/ Excerpt: "FreeSpell is a spell checker for any and all Windows applications. You can use it in Eudora, in Microsoft Outlook, Symantec Visual Cafe, and even in Windows Explorer when renaming files (though it's a little tricky to do that). Anything that supports the clipboard supports FreeSpell, and all it takes is a hotkey to invoke it. Just as important, FreeSpell is based upon the Aspell engine, which means it offers the best spell checker around for people with weak spelling skills (as well for people who just need a quick proofreader). Aspell is full featured as well, with a large default dictionary, and custom dictionary support." Will post more as I find them. -- Be seeing you, Louie Gainesville, FL, USA louiethelizard@flies.hotmail.com eat the flies to email |
