I use Pop Stopper (free one) and Messenger Service disabled which has worked so far. There are no POP-Ups Duane :) |

| Re: popups You dont need to buy any software. If you look at the top bar, it says Messenger Service.(not MSN Messenger) This is a service built into XP and used on a network. You need to disable the Windows Messenger Service Here are some steps: Here's how to disable the Windows Messenger service in XP, Right-click My Computer and choose Manage. Go to Services and Apps and select Services. Find Messenger on the list and right-click it. Go to Properties and change Automatic to Disable to stop the service. Hit OK. Be very careful not to touch anything else in there. You could damage your operating system beyond repair. Reboot your system to activate changes. This should stop this type of window popup. A Popup stopper will stop 'browser' window ads POW! is a good useful utility, as mentioned. This stops the popup sda. mh "Flagg" <flagg@esbauman.com> wrote in message news:CIN7b.411296$Ho3.64672@sccrnsc03... > got these pop ups popping on my screen all the time a picture of one is here > http://www.esbauman.com/graphics/darnpopups.jpg > i go to the website and tells me that i have to buy software to remove them > i have pop up stopper enabled but they still come > anyone else get these and how do i stop them?? > > tia > > |
