URL Tutorial ..

This may offend some, and enlighten others. The following is for the
latter.: The intention of this post is to advise everyone to read and
understand a posted URL prior to clicking that URL.:

A "URL" (Uniform Resource Locater) is an address on the Internet; and they
share a convention of how they're structured.

One will always first see: "HTTP" (HyperTextTransferProtocol), followed
often by "WWW" (WorldWideWeb)...

There's trivia to above 'www'; but to move on, the convention follows with
the name of an entity, such as "Big-Company"; then it's -Domain-, like
".com" or "net", etc..

Following domain might be further specification of the address, such as: '
http://www.BigCompany.com/giveusmoney '

To put it all together, let's look at one more example, shall we? Let's say
someone posts a URL that is claimed to be a 'computer help site', but that
URL is, as an example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...2c&rd=10000000

In the above example, do you see the that after "http" and then "cgi"
(common gateway interface) that it identifies the company as _Ebay_??! The
example directs a user to 'Viewing Item 123a' under a defined category.

Everyone here knows of "Ebay" right? Good. There's a 'moral to this story',
and I ..:

HTH.
