| Hard Drives/CD-ROM not recognized Machine has been running fine. Booted up today and it does not recognize anything except the A: drive. Can't boot from CD-ROM but I can from the A: drive and can't change to anything but the C: and it says nothing when I try to access it. Where should I look first? Thanks -- Remove NoSpam for e-mail |

| Re: Hard Drives/CD-ROM not recognized Without knowing what OS you are running or what specs. your machine has we can only give you a general answer. You say that after booting from floppy you can change to C:\ but you see nothing, that is because you are only at the DOS prompt. type "DIR" (without quotation marks) you should now see a whole lot of files. 1. If this is the case then restart your computer and go into your BIOS. Once in your BIOS check to see if the settings for Hard Drive detection is set to "Auto Detect", save your settings and restart your computer. 2. If this is not the the case then your Hard Drive has failed and time to get a new one. |
