Blue Screen Of Death??

Can someone enlighten me on this subject? I know the computers at the
office, working on a state network, are prone to these and it seems to be
specific to some computers then it happens. My home computer has never had
one and I don't have any friends whose computer has.

Is there a reason computers are prone to these? If I obtained a computer
that was surplus state equipment with a history of several BSODs, is the
computer likely to have an internal problems when used with no networking?
Thanks
DMSL

Re: Blue Screen Of Death??

BSOD's are stop errors and although there are literally hundreds of
things that can cause them they are generally related to memory either
from poorly written drivers or poorly written software.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death??

Since upgrading two months ago to Windows XP (home version) I have not had
one "Blue Screen of Death". With 98SE it happened 2 or 3 times daily.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death??

They can all do it. Each one can be made to run without ever getting them.

I'm sure that all Windows operating systems "can be set to operate" withoug
crashing. The point is XP does not crash and you don't have to do anything
other than turn on the machine.
