Hello I was working on a lab in my IT class last week and came across a problem and was hoping for some help. My intructor asked us to intall a second video card in the PC to hook up 2 monitors to the computer, simple enough task. I have done this before and it has never given me any troubles but noone in the class was able to get it to work and the professor couldnt figure it out either. We had 4 PCs all had the same problem. I will attempt to discribe what I feel is relevent about the situation.
The PC has windows vista on it. The PC had a PCI express video card in it to begin with and it worked fine. He gave us a standard PCI video card to add for use on the second monitor. I installed it with no problems then plugged in both monitors to each video card and powered up. Strangely the PCI-E video cards monitor didnt turn on. The new video card that I put in turned on just fine. In deviced manager the PCI-E card had a yellow mark on it. We tried everything to get them both to work but at no avail. If only one card would work shouldnt windows choose the card plugged into the only PCI-E slot as it connects to the north bridge for a faster connection? Any help you could offer would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. :)
