Buying new RAM vs. used RAM

I'm looking to upgrade my computers RAM and I was hoping to save some money by buying used RAM but is there any disadvantages to this. Is new better than used??

Re: Buying new RAM vs. used RAM

New is always better than used if you can afford it, if just for the warranty.

Be careful if you're buying used. Make sure you can return it, get a receipt and test it as soon as you install it.

New is always better but if you want to save money and wanna go in for the old one, please make sure it works and match the speed with your existing RAM module for best results...

Re: Buying new RAM vs. used RAM

If you have the money to buy a new RAM, don't risk to buy a used one. Some used RAM doesn't last long. If you want to save, consider buying a used RAM which are tested to work and doesn't have any defect.

Re: Buying new RAM vs. used RAM

Upgrading RAM needs some considerations. First thing is that if the RAM stick you are going to add is compatible with your mainboard. Old or new RAM stick, as long as working and compatible, it doesn't matter. The same RAM as what has already been inserted in your system would be highly preferable. If you are going to remove the old RAM stick and replace with a new and higher capacity ones, just make sure your system supports the RAM you are going to insert.
