Networking issue

I'm using a Dell Latitude D530 with WinXP Pro and I have the same issue whether I use the internal NIC or wireless connection to the network. Here is the problem.

I can connect to any of the devices or locations that I want to as well as the internet but I get the message "Destination Host Unreachable" when I try to ping a network address. I'm trying to set up a software program that talks to a networked printer and even though I can bring up the web page or print through the windows driver, I can't get it to connect because it isn't resolving the IP address. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Re: Networking issue

Thank you for the suggestion. It didn't work however. I have a hard time understanding if I can see all of the devices through windows, why can't I ping them? When I use ipconfig it shows the gateway addresses but I can't ping those either.
