I'm new here; hope this query fits within the scope of this forum. The wheel button of my new MS wireless laser 5000 mouse works only intermittently when assigned a specific task. For example, if I assign either "exit program" or "close" to the wheel button, a single click of the wheel button does not perform the assignment. The button must be clicked several times (2-6) to perform the assigned task; at times, the scroll button does not work at all. I exchanged the first mouse I purchased thinking it was a manufacturing defect, but the same problem is present in the replacement unit. All other buttons function normally. I am using the latest software downloaded from Microsoft. I have re-synchronized the mouse and base unit. Searching for new drivers, deleting and reinstalling drivers, etc have no effect. As I have assigned other functions to the remaining buttons, it is important for me to have a functional wheel button. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Not the biggest problem, but annoying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
