Exclamation Newly Upgraded PC shuts down randomly! HELP!

I'm new here. I need help cause im experiencing random shutdowns.

I have upgraded my MOBO,CPU, & RAM (MSI K9A2 PLATINUM V1, AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6400+ BLACK EDITION, PATRIOT PC2-6400) last January.

After installing the new components, i started experiencing RANDOM SHUTDOWNS. At first, i thought it was a PSU problem since my old PSU was a GENERIC (TRENDSONIC) 550W. I just thought my old PSU couldn't handle the new components.

This February, i finally bought a new SILVERSTONE DA650 + APC 500va UPS. I thought that've solved my problem. Unfortunately, my PC still shuts down randomly!!

It doesn't show any warnings or BSOD (BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH) or whatsoever before shutting down. I dont think its a heat problem either. I have a LAPPED THERMALRIGHT ULTRA 90 + SILVERSTONE FM122 + COOLERMASTER HIGH PERFORMANCE THERMAL COMPOUND @ 43-45c idle.

The shutdown doesnt have a specific pattern. It just shuts down anytime. Sometimes i am able to use my PC for hours while sometimes it shutsdown 2 or more times under a minute.

I really cant figure out whats causing all these problems. I also noticed that when running LAVALYS EVEREST ULTIMATE, MSI PC ALERT 4 & SPEEDFAN, the voltage reading shows only 8.10V on the 12v RAIL. While the BIOS and MSI DUAL CORE CENTER shows 12.495v or something. I'm wondering which reading is correct? And could this be the cause of the random shutdowns?

I'm also sure that its not a virus problem since i have an updated ESET NOD32 SMART SECURITY + BOCLEAN ANTI SPYWARE + SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY ANTI SPYWARE. all these ANTI MALWARE programs detects effectively unwanted malwares.

I've asked for opinion/help in some forums and most people say it could be a busted capacitor on the mobo. Could this be true? Aren't my capacitors SOLID CAPACITORS?

I've spent so much money on my computer for the past few months. I'm very devastated to know that my upgrade causes all this annoyances. If i still cant solve this problem for the next few weeks, i guess i have to get this MOBO RMAd.

HOPING FOR YOUR QUICK REPLY WITH A HELPFUL SOLUTION. thanks!

Re: Newly Upgraded PC shuts down randomly! HELP!

I had the same problem a couple of years ago with a new build, i was pulling my hair out for about 2 months changing just about everything, turned out to be a faulty cpu it had a tiny chip on the edge of the core too small to see but i was told from amd that was the problem and they replaced the chip after another 2 months of arguing with the supplier (they said i chipped it putting the fan on) but i put the new cpu in and hey presto it never done it again.

i hope its allready sorted, if not hope this helps!
