Audigy Sound Card and Lifechat lx-3000

I have a Lifechat Lx-3000 USB headset and a desktop running XP SP2 and with an Audigy 2 sound card. I want to use the headset as an actual headset for games and music. However, when i try to use it for anything other than msn live messenger, everything is static and sounds really bad. Anybody know what's wrong? I've heard that audigy cards are made incompatible with usb headsets.
