| Fastest Growing: Production Increase Promised According to MLive.com A little more than five months after the console's release, "Wii remains the fastest-selling new console in more than a decade," Nintendo says. It has sold a whopping 5.84 million units worldwide, halping Nintendo's profits soar 77 percent this year. It also remains the toughest console to get your hands on. But Nintendo, it seems, is finally stepping it up on the production end. President Satoru Iwata told Japanese media today that the shortages of Wii and DS systems are "abnormal" and that "We have not been able to properly foresee demand."
