| 21st Century Academy Seniors Armed With Laptop Computers Seniors at 21st Century Academy received laptops at a special ceremony at the school to mark the beginning of the Laptops 24/7 initiative made possible by the Texas-based Beaumont Foundation. Seniors handed a paper legal pad to high school teachers Randall Rowan and Elaine Davis-Harper in exchange for a Toshiba tablet PC, a symbolic gesture of their move from pencil and paper to computer-based education. The seniors will use the laptops throughout the rest of the year to document and enhance personal and academic growth through service-learning, Senior Project and core curriculum. “By putting laptops in these students’ hands 24 hours a day for the duration of their senior year, we will facilitate full immersion in technology and graduate students able to perform to International Standards for Technology in Education benchmarks,” said Technology Facilitator Mike Ballard. 21st Century Academy Seniors Armed With Laptop Computers
