| Tablet PC: Not all laptops are created equal This is a nice overview for students and parents preparing for school. Specialized. We mean Tablet PCs, which incorporate stylus-driven touch screens suitable for drawing and note taking. This makes them potential notepad replacements, but we're skeptical of claims that old-fashioned pen and paper are passé. So-called "convertible" tablets incorporate standard keyboards along with swiveling screens so they can be used as laptops or slates. Our $1,800 Gateway M-275-series loaner won't win speed or portability contests but is a reasonable value for tablet devotees. Not all laptops are created equal
