| Extended School Year Teacher Wade Helleson is introducing some new technology to keep students interested. He uses this tablet PC to teach both subjects, and there's more. Helleson says, "We have had a few plays the kids have performed that they've enjoyed. I've pulled some new books out they haven't seen this year that they've gotten into." Students are also using their writing skills to market Mr. Helleson's class to future students. Satara Atwood says, "We're doing a brochure for next year people. Telling them about this room and about third grade. Make no mistake, this is not summer school. That would indicate students are getting remedial help. The extended year concept is designed to move students farther along the education continum, and in the end, the goal is to create better prepared students. Extended School Year
