| Best Email Program for POP? Okay... I saw it discussed, but never found what the answer was. I, too, am looking for the best email program to use, for now and for the future.... so I don't have to constantly change programs and import/export email and filters, etc. and all that hassle that comes with it. I saw two good programs discussed, Powermail and Apple Mail. I didn't see which was better. I heard both had problems, and Apple Mail still had major bugs. I wanted some help to know which is better (the NEWEST versions of each), before I start the lengthy process of changing over. I DON'T USE IMAP, or even know what it is. I USE POP. And need the best POP Mail program. My needs are extensive filters and actions, spam blocking, searching, folder setup, and HTML rendering. And obviously no major bugs. I also wanted to plan for the future. I wanted to know, in your opinions, what would be good for today - but also has the most potential to be good for the future - through updates and revisions. I want to try to switch over eMail programs only once for the next couple years. I'd hate to switch over to one, and find the other one got updated awesomely. It takes some predicting... but I wanted your opinions. TIA!!!!!! .................................................. ............... Well, Certainly I donot like Apple Mail and never have. It not only 'had' bugs, it still _has_ some severe bugs in various ways - amo. 'multi attachments', 'big files attached' , 'multi addressing' etc... I've only tested PowerMail and the older PowerMail Pro. They are both breat programs, fast and real stable, but I also found that both multi-addressing and attaching big files could be a problem - especially if sent to Windows based recipients. > I wanted some help to know which is better (the NEWEST versions of > each), before I start the lengthy process of changing over. > > I DON'T USE IMAP, or even know what it is. > > I USE POP. Seeing this list above, there is only one program that will suite all these - or infact two, but number two is unfortunately now discontinued... The best is the mail part of the new Mozilla 'SeaMonkey 1.0.5', It's incredibly stable and very, very fast - even on OS X 10.3.x - also faster than Thunderbird. I've been trying it out on a second machine, and as soon as I get the time to upgrade this one here to 10.4.x and install SeaMonkey, it'll replace my until now 'beloved' WaMCom X 1.3.1. The absolute best stand-alone mail client is still NisusEmail X 1.6.1. It works and works fast and stable even on OS X 10.4, though it originally was made for use with 10.2.x. The filtering system is so specialized that you even can filter out from the text body - not only from date&time, subject, sender, mail addresses etc.etc.. To this comes that you even can use your prefered textprocessor to handle the mails - both incoming and outgoing. E.g. if you prefer the use of MSWord, you just set NE to handle your mails in Word, and when you wanna make a mail, just make a 'header' with 'To', 'From', Date&Time' and 'Subject' and to send, just use a key command or drag it to the postbox on the desktop, - and it's sent... Unfortunately NisusEmail has been discontinued, but you might write to Nisus Software to get a demo to try it. www.nisus.com -> 'Contact Nisus'. I still use NE X and NE Classic from time to time - simply because of it's filtereing system. > I also wanted to plan for the future. Well, according to the above paragraphs, I'll surely recommend the use of the SeaMonkey mail part. - The Mozilla org. themselves claim that SeaMonkey is the future in new standard.:-) - OK, taken with a grain, - but I will still say that SeaMonkey is the best ever made mailclient / mail part in a combined browser+mail app of all times. One thing more. SeaMonkey is 100% compatible with both common G3, G4, G5 and DualCore/IntelMac technology! - And if you're using multipaltform - OS X + Windows + Linux you can also use and setup SeaMonkey 100% identically on any of these platforms! You can download it here: http://tc.versiontracker.com/product/redir/lid/815042/ If you can't get a demo of NisusEmail X from Nisus Software, you can mail me off-list at <erikrichard_NOSP@M_stofanet.dk>, then I can send you the demo. - just remove the '_NOSPM_ and my address is valid.
