Not sure if you know this, but the Claris Emailer engineering team left Apple and was hired by Microsoft's Mac Business Unit to create Outlook Express, and later Entourage. In fact, you will find the engineering team actually modeled a *lot* of the functionality from Claris Emailer to Outlook Express and Entourage. And they didn't stop there - Entourage has steadily improved over time to become arguably the most fully-featured emailer available on the Mac platform! As far as importing from Claris Emailer goes, my bet is you'll have better luck with Entourage than with others, since it uses a lot of the same or similar organization as Claris Emailer. In fact, Entourage has a built-in Claris Email importer that does the whole job for you. Check it out: <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/resources/resources.aspx?pid=resourcekits&rk=officex&article =/mac/officex/ork/Importing_Data_Entourage.xml> If you want a user experience close to (and actually improved in many ways from) what you are used to with Claris Emailer, you'd do good to check out Microsoft Office 2004's Entourage. I am a long-time Claris Emailer user myself, and moving to Outlooks Express, and later Microsoft Office's Entourage from Claris Emailer felt like a natural progression to me. My advice: you'd do well to check it out. -- JR |

Not exactly. The lead engineer of Emailer went to MS and wound up on those teams. After Apple killed Emailer, some members of the Emailer team were then hired to join him. Also, not all of them are still there. But yes, there are a lot of design elements of Emailer in Entourage for that reason. -- Stop Mad Cowboy Disease: Impeach the son of a Bush. |

However, it is just about as easy to drag a message to a folder as it is to click a button or pull down a menu to trigger a filter or rule. > For me, the main thing was to get over the mail. When I transfered from Emailer to Mail.app (about the same time that MTNW was carbonized so it could run natively under OS X), I had no problems transferring messages to mail from emailer, so long as emailer itself was on the system and that Classic could be run. I transferred the address book by exporting it as LDAP and importing it into Address Book. > I do not want to do another port, though.
