"Registering" a mac bought on Ebay?

I have never bought a computer from Ebay, but am thinking about buying a
used iBook G4 because my ibook G3 is just too slow. Some of the
descriptions for the ibooks offered at Ebay boast that the item can be
"registered" at Apple. What the crap does this mean and is it an
advantage?

No particular advantage... presumably it is meant to imply that even
though it's an older model it was never used/never registered with
Apple. Though it could just be a fresh OS installation on older, used
hardware.

A new install will always ask you to register.
I did have an interesting thing happen when I brought my iBook which I
had purchased in Europe and registered it here and all of a sudden had a
90 days fresh Apple Care coverage!
