Of course, that only works if the system with the shared library is up and running (and local- if the shared library is on the desktop system and the laptop is at home). Alternatively, if you turn on Personal File Sharing in the Sharing system preference on both computers, you will be able to access the contents of each system's iTunes library from the other-- and manually drag files from one to the other (which you can't do with the iTunes library sharing I described earlier). The awkward part of this is that you need to run the iTunes Advanced/Consolidate Library command to update the library listing (or use the File/Add to Library command to copy the file across the network and add it to the library listing at the same time). Maybe there are some 3rd party (free or shareware) utilities to simplify this... |

Is there anyway of doing this. Well, the tech who set up my network when I got the laptop got my iTunes library from the OS 9+ G4 into the OS X laptop's different iTunes to begin with(I suspect he imported it), but I don't know how I could share them between the two. I apparently can't even import the other direction. -- Mary Loomer Oliver (aka Erilar), philologist, biblioholic medievalist http://www.airstreamcomm.net/~erilarlo |

I didn't know that. I think you can do this with Senuti, although I haven't tried it myself. <http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/> -- ^Ï^ |

There are several free or shareware programs listed at Versiontracker.com that can be used for this as well. See for example: SuperSync: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29874 |
