| QUESTION! Sony Clies - Which is the best? QUESTION! Sony Clies - Which is the best? Looking for some advice... saw people asking, but not too many answering. I got the same question. I didn't see anyone say their opinion. I too am looking to buy a Sony Clie with built-in keyboard. Now that they are out-of-production... I wanted to know which one was the best one to buy? I will be shopping on eBay and don't want to buy the wrong model if there is a superior one. Advice Needed: Best SONY CLIE w/KEYBOARD? I'm about to get a PALM PILOT. I need one that: 1) Works on Mac 2) Has a backlit KEYBOARD (can type at night) 3) Stable, recent OS 4) Good quality (won't break or stop working mysteriously) 5) Will primarily be used for WORD documents 6) Long battery life 7) Has Wi-Fi 8) Will take memory expansion card I looked at all the various Palm Pilots, and saw that the SONY CLIEs seem to be pretty good... but there are so many of them. They are out of production, so I will get one on eBay. I figure since they stopped making them, I can now pick the best one ever made and buy it on eBay. However, I need your opinions and knowledge on which SONY CLIE to get. #1 need is a backlit keyboard and of course stability/manufacturing quality. What is your advice? Would you also recommend anything else that synchs with a Macintosh that isn't a SONY CLIE? (Palm Tungsten Cs don't have backlit keyboards) TIA! .................................................. ............... Sorry, I happen to think the best Sony CLIE was the TH55, but it does not have a keyboard. I would actually suggest you ask about best CLIE on one of the Palm related newsgroups. Or go over to http://1src.com where they have some very good PDA forums dedicated to different PDA platforms including Sony CLIE models. > I'm about to get a PALM PILOT. This is because Sony uses a variable speed CPU that was throttled down to only 8MHz when idle, and compensated for the slower max speed of 123MHz by using dedicated graphics hardware so the CPU did not need to do all the heavy lifting when it was busy. > 7) Has Wi-Fi > 8) Will take memory expansion card Most Sony CLIE's took a Sony MemoryStick (or 3rd party MemoryStick), but ONLY Sony PDAs used the MemoryStick format, so the prices were always a bit higher than say an SD card or a CompactFlash card. Also some of the older Sony CLIEs only took a 128MB card, so while my favorite TH55 is using a 1GB card, you might want to check the specs to make sure what the maximum sized card is before you buy a card to put in it. > I looked at all the various Palm Pilots, and saw that the SONY CLIEs > seem to be pretty good... but there are so many of them. UX50, extended battery, new internal battery, and a decent case - some of the cheap ones are actually neat because they let you charge the battery with a USB lead and incorporate a cradle. But the UX50 is, IMO, one of the best Clies made.
